Cardiff Camac Harp Weekend 2019

Welcome to our fourth Cardiff Camac Harp Weekend which this year is a celebration of 20 years of Telynau Vining Harps! Following the success of our previous events, we are delighted to be teaming up with our colleagues from across the Channel for another packed two days of concerts and workshops from a wonderful line-up of artists. Camac President Jakez François will be joining us to celebrate along with Helen Leitner and once again thanks to the generosity of Camac France we are able to offer free regulations of Camac harps by Guillaume Tijou. Last but definitely not least, beat those waiting lists by checking out the special exhibition of Camac harps which will be running all weekend!

Programme

To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we have devised an exceptional programme for this year’s harp weekend. We are delighted that world-renowned harpist Isabelle Moretti has agreed to join us, not only to give two masterclasses but also for an evening concert, to be held in the Impressionists Gallery at the National Museum. We could not think of a more appropriate venue. It promises to be a fabulous evening!

As well as Isabelle, we have an amazing array of talent again this year. And there is something to suit all ages – children and adults; all grades – from complete starters to professional harpists; and all styles – from classical to pop and traditional music.

Our Sunday afternoon concert this year will feature Claire Jones, a former harpist to the Prince of Wales and an ever popular performer and teacher. Claire will be joined by percussionist Chris Marshall and, in addition to their concert appearance, Claire and Chris will give a variety of workshops throughout the weekend.

And that’s not all! Caryl Thomas, Head of Harp at The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, has kindly agreed to give a masterclass also. There will be workshops, too, from Natasha Gale and Heather Downie, both popular and experienced teachers.
